Vote Christian Albouras for District 20 Alder on Tuesday, April 2nd

Hello!

My name is Christian Albouras and I am excited to announce my candidacy to serve as your representative for Aldermanic District 20 on the Madison Common Council. District 20 has been very fortunate to have Alderman Matt Phair serve us for the past 8 years and I look forward to building on Mr. Phair’s great work and district initiatives. I am honored to share that I have the support and endorsement of Matt Phair for my candidacy.

If elected, as your representative, I will focus on the following areas to strengthen the neighborhoods within our district, maintain basic services, build community, and ensure our district’s needs are a priority in the city decision making process:

  1. Public Safety

  2. Access to City Services

  3. Child, Youth & Family Engagement

  4. Economic Development & Job Creation

  5. Listening Sessions

My wife (Miriah) and I are proud homeowners in the Meadowood Neighborhood. Our young daughter, Nathalia, attends an amazing public school within the district that has great teachers and staff, Huegel Elementary. My wife also attended Huegel Elementary, Toki Middle School, and James Madison Memorial High School while she grew up in District 20.

In 2015, I was appointed by Mayor Paul Soglin to serve on the Madison Police Department Policy and Procedure Review ad-hoc Committee. I still serve on this committee and served as the co-chair for the first 2 years of the committee's work. In that role, I learned the positive impact that a city committee can have on shaping policy and informing the council during the decision-making process.

I am running because I am ready and best prepared to serve you and be a part of the larger conversation and decision-making process on the common council.

If elected, from day one, I will work with the new leadership on the common council and Mayor to build consensus, identify shared priorities, and move our city forward. It is imperative that we invest and make decisions now that will maintain our current standard of living and progressive values that make Madison one of the best cities in the nation to live, work, play, and raise a family. As we move forward as a city, it is important that we do so in a mindful manner that ensures all of our residents have the opportunity to prosper.

Sincerely,

Christian Albouras
